Begging for Jesus
I still haven't been able to get over the poverty here in Kenya. There is one part of town that is hard for my mom, especially when their is traffic. We sit in the car, and we are bombarded my children in dirty, ripped rags. Their beautiful faces press against the glass of our windows begging us to buy their peanuts. You can faintly hear their whimpering voices. They know that if they don't sell their peanuts, they could go hungry. Their eyes pierce ours. We want to help them, but sometimes it is not an option.
We say silent prayers and continue to drive. We leave this part of the city and forget about them. But their daily struggles continue.
I hope and pray these children know Jesus, the provider. Because without Him, what hope do they have?

I know those moments can be tough Jess. I had those times when I lived in Mexico City. You're doing the best thing and that is to pray for them; bless them. Keep being the wonderful person you are and you will make a difference.
I love you!

Hi Jessica, It's Karen Gleason, Jenna's mom. I really enjoy reading about you and your family's adventures in Kenya. We often print excerpts from your mom's African Adventure newsletters in New Frontier. Would it be OK if we print Begging for Jesus in the paper? By the way, Jenna says "hi" - we always think about you guys! What I would love is if Jenna could come there sometime and help out in the children's home. Don't know if that would ever be possible, but it would be such a great experience. Blessings and love to you and your folks!
